Changes to the Dress Code
Our school's Governing Board voted to approve an adjusted Dress Code policy in their meeting last week. Nothing was removed from the policy, so all of the requirements such as no words or images on clothing, no hair dyed a non-natural hair color, etc., are still in the policy. The change is that a section was added, which makes more clear the amount of coverage that clothing should provide. Previously, the Dress Code stated that students should be clothed so that they can move and play and be active, while not causing embarrassment to themselves or others. The updated Dress Code now gives more specifics about coverage, stating that clothing must cover from armpit to armpit and from shoulder to mid-thigh. Please be aware of this as we move into warmer weather for the final weeks of school; shorts, skirts, and dresses must reach mid-thigh in order to comply with the new Dress Code. The full, current Dress Code policy is attached if you would like to read it. The following image is included in the dress code, to make it easy to understand what areas need to be covered by clothing:
May Faire this Thursday and Friday: Wear white!
May Faire will be celebrated during school time on Thursday May 6 for in-person students, and on Friday May 7 from 9:00am to 10:30am for online students who would like to attend. It is traditional in Waldorf schools for everyone to wear white clothing for May Faire, so please have your in-person students wear white on Thursday, and online students who are participating on Friday should wear white that day. Both May Faire events are for students only, not for family attendance.
