Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are excited to report to you that construction is starting this week on moving the road behind the school!
When completed, the road will follow generally the same path as it does now, just moved several feet further out from the school building (so when completed, the dropoff and pickup path will be the same as it has been, just shifted a few feet).
This shift in road location is the first step in the larger project of expanding the school building, as more space is needed between the existing building footprint and the road. The building expansion will provide us with a few new classrooms, a new gymnasium, and more spaces for our specialty classes and special education program. Designs are being finalized, permits are pending.
Phase I - Start: July 1 Duration: about 6 weeks
The road behind the school will be moved as far out to our property line as possible, next to the land the county owns in the field behind the school. This must be done because the space the school occupies and owns is very tight and this will allow us to build off the back of the school. Crews will aim to complete this phase prior to the first day of school so that drop-off and pick-up is not disrupted. We will be moving the first grade play yard to other designated areas for recess.
Phase II - Start: Fall Duration: about the full 2026-27 school year
Construction will begin on the back side of the building to build a new gym and classrooms. Safety precautions will be in place and students will need to play further out in the field and other designated play areas that are being planned now. Drop off may need to be adjusted so that students are all dropped off in the front of the building similar to how we pick-up. Watch for communications about this!
Phase III - Summer 2027
This phase will be a renovation of the current smaller gymnasium to add new small classroom spaces, a movement room, and offices. More details will be forthcoming on what new space this renovation will provide.
Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility as we all work together through a growing phase for our school!
