our third grade

In third grade we study how the human being comes to live on and interact with the Earth. We start with the Hebrew Legends. We will hear stories of the creation, Noah, the Israelites and Moses, and End with the kings. These stories meet the children as they go through the nine year change and go through their own transformation of childhood.

The children now begin to see themselves as being a part of humankind and stewards of the Earth. The children learn practical skills of living on Earth. They learn house building in our shelters block. They will learn about clothing through the fibers and textiles block. They will learn how to grow food in our farming block. The children will also learn measurement, time, and money. They will continue to build on their arithmetic skills in the math blocks.

Third grade is one of my favorite curriculum's in the Waldorf Schools and I am so excited to bring it to the children this year!

MICHELLE WOODS

My name is Michelle Woods. I teach the Magnolia Tree Class. I have been a Waldorf parent for 11 years and am going into my third year of teaching.

I graduated from Califronia State University Sacramento with a degree in liberal studies in 2003. I graduated from Gradalis with my Waldorf teaching certificate in 2020.  I love the Waldorf pedagogy.
I look at the children with wholeness and I am excited that I get to journey  through the grades with my class. On my off time I enjoy spending time at the beach with my husband and four children.

Our highest endeavor must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives.
The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility-these three forces are the very nerve of education
